In the centre is a protective deity, possibly dGe bsnyen phying dkar ba, surrounded by his retinue. Wearing silken robes and adorned with a golden crown and earrings, he holds a spear in his right hand and a bowl of jewels in his left. On his right thumb is a gold ring and on his feet are Mongolian boots. He rides a white horse, ornamented with gold and silk trappings, below which are offerings. Directly above is the Four-Armed Avalokiteśvara, flanked by two deities clad in armour riding white horses. Below are a female deity riding an antelope and another armed deity riding a white horse. The five deities are war-like in appearance and are pre-Buddhist protectors. This is a skilful nagthang painting in which the artist has excelled in his depiction of the costumes, flames and the delightful animals in the background.
